A Time to Choose!
I am getting frighteningly close to finishing my 2nd novel, A Time to Choose. You can read the first 5 chapters at http://www.authonomy.com/writing-community/profile/me/. A Time to Choose is a Civil War novel (includes romance as well) that follows my hero Andrew Scott Browning, an Army officer who spends most of the war as security officer for President Lincoln. My heroine Maggie Strictland is a journalist from Boston who writes a column under the pseudonym of DCStrictline concerning the goings on in the capital and spends her days encouraging Lincoln to abolish slavery.
As the title suggests, the novel focuses on the choices Andrew and Maggie make while living in a difficult time near the power and danger of the White House. Their Christian home is attacked by Andrew's former fiancee. Andrew's sisters' husbands are on the battle field, one imprisoned for a time and one injured. Andrew longs to be on the battlefield as well.
Daily we all make decisions without much thought or prayer. As Maggie and Andrew attempt to live their lives in choreograph with God, they come to see the importance of not only the big choices but also the small ones.
Frighteningly close? The next big hurdle is finding a publisher for A Time to Choose. Tate is certainly a possibility (the publisher of Gold Earrings), yet it would be great to be published more traditionally. American Christian Fiction Writers does not recognize Tate as a traditional publisher so I can not add Gold Earrings to their publication listings. So...next comes the editing and the marketing. For me, the marketing to the publishers and eventually the mass market is the most difficult part of being a writer! Here's where my association with the John 3:16 Marketing Network helps.
Pray that I too make wise decisions concerning the publication of my 2nd novel, A Time to Choose.
